Why did you want to become a Flight Attendant? :)

Asked by Anonymous

Because this is a lucrative job. Some will tell you they just wanna travel, but in my case, it’s money over leisure. Plus this was the first to respond when I was job-hunting after I left university. =)

So, this was the controversial Volcanoes billboard that was removed from EDSA because of complaints of being “inappropriate”. They see men in skimpy underwear, they complain. They see women in the same, they think it’s ok. Talk about double standards. Tsk.

Sa ibang banda, bakit Volcanoes ang name ng Philippine Rugby Team? Well, it sounds better than Azkals, anyway. ?

Macy’s put up this newspaper ad congratulating the wrong NBA team for winning the finals. Not much of a clairvoyant, eh? Ooops.

Hi! I just want to know where did you download the camera shutter mute option and the lomo app for blackberry? thank you!

Asked by Anonymous

I downloaded both OTA (over the air) on their websites. I got the Camera Mute App from this site, http://bit.ly/gUAk6H and the lomo-like app, “Pixtrix”, was downloaded from this site, http://bit.ly/gQio0X. If you can access BlackBerry App World (can’t access it when in Dubai), you can get PixTrix there as well. =)

iPhone app that calculates calories through photos of food

Tue, Apr 12 13:01 PM EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - Worried about how many calories you are going to consume in that slice of pizza, chocolate cake or bag of fries? A new iPhone application may help.

After taking a picture of the meal with the phone, the app gives a calorie read-out almost instantly.

The app, called MealSnap, was developed by DailyBurn, a fitness social network that has created several other fitness and diet-related iPhone applications.

Within minutes of taking a picture of a meal and matching it to a database of some 500,000 food items, the app sends users an alert with a range of calories for the meal that was photographed.

“The database can quickly help identity the food, how many calories there are, proteins, fat, carbs, vitamins, whatever you may want to know,” said DailyBurn CEO Andy Smith. “Users can then choose to share what they’ve eaten on Twitter or FourSquare, leading to social accountability.”

Smith added that calorie counting can be a very time consuming process. But the app makes it easier to track the calories in food.

“The pure act of tracking something can cause a psychological change that can help people on their health and fitness journey,” he explained. “Just the simple fact of logging it makes me more aware of what I’m eating.”

Additionally, MealSnap can serve as a food diary, allowing users to keep a visual log of the meals they have eaten.

“It’s like a food journal, but easier. All you do is take the picture,” Smith said.

MealSnap is available on the iTunes store for $2.99.

Kimono and Sumo

This morning, as I rode the train to Tokyo from Narita, I chanced upon this lady wearing a kimono. As it is my first time in Japan, I was impressed to see people wearing their traditional clothes. I discretely took out my camera phone and shot this (thank God for mute functions). As I loaded the photo in my laptop a few hours later, I couldn’t stop laughing as I stare at the guy beside the lady. Seems like the old man on the newspaper was laughing with me. Sleeping Sumo!

Ciao 2010, Hello 2011

I’m here sitting alone having breakfast on the first day of 2011. This may not be an ideal way to spend new year’s day but I’m not going to be upset nor sad about it ‘cause I’ll just be wasting this special day then. As I finish my bowl of fruits, I stare out into the frozen lake in front of Le Royal Meridien Hotel. The stillness of the iced lake, the snow-covered paths, the grey skies and leafless trees outside make me feel I’m miles and miles away from home. But despite the gloomy vibe Hamburg makes me feel, I’m still happy in welcoming the new year. I really don’t care if I spent it alone last midnight nor if I didn’t have Media Noche & fireworks because even if I missed on those, I know that what really matters is not the noise nor the lights; it’s what’s in your heart. I bade farewell to 2010 with a grateful smile. And now, I embrace 2011 with much gusto, excitement, and love as I did when I welcomed 2010 a year ago. All the best, everyone. Happy new year. ♥ 08:51 AM Local Hamburg, Germany
